Nominating a New Member

What do I do?

Rotary has a clear process to follow if you know someone who would make a good Rotarian.

First and foremost, the Rotary process requires a person be proposed as a member to the Club and accepted BEFORE you actually issue an invitation to join.

If you're not sure how the process works in your Club, check with your Club's Membership Coordinator or your Club President.

Use the How To Propose A New Member document to start you on the process.

Key factors

Ask yourself questions like the following:

  • Does the prospective member meet the membership qualifications?
  • Have you given the prospective member some of Rotary's information publications?
  • Has the prospective member expressed any interest in contributing to Rotary's work?
  • Will the prospective member fit in with the existing members of your Club?
  • Have your brought the prospective member to several Club meetings and Club projects and other activities? Did they seem to enjoy that experience?

Consider what you need to do once the prospective member has joined.
